SPEAKING ENGINE
Speaking Engine — stage guide
This page is an optional guide to the speaking stages, not a step in the learning sequence. Before the Speaking Engine, complete Listen & Repeat and Grammar. Build, Fluency, Substitution, Response, Translation, Replacement, Variation and Review Drills are available in Chapter 3. First build familiar sentences in Build, then practise complete sentences in Fluency, then change the cues in Substitution Drills, answer questions in Response Drills, then retrieve Spanish sentences in Translation Drills and practise chained changes in Replacement Drills, and recombine known anchors in Variation Drills. Finally, use Review to identify weak points and repeat the right drills before Conversation Stimulus.
